Each dot is a patch of about 400 m where a satellite detected heat. The solid patch at the end is the burned area by Sentinel-2.

The model is not sure: a 13% chance that this was a significant fire. Around the detections: 5% forest, shrubs and grass, 95% farmland.

Chance it was a significant fire: 13%

The estimate comes from a model trained on past fires in Bulgaria. It looks at a fire's first 24 hours: the land, the season and the detections.

First detected: 15 Sep 2019, 13:00

Duration: 38 h

Max. power: 264 MW
Burned area: 229 ha; From Sentinel-2 images of 13 Sep and 28 Sep: the ground whose vegetation burned in between. An estimate, with error.
Extent: 301 ha; The area around the detections: a rough estimate, usually larger than what burned.

EFFIS has not mapped this fire. It maps mostly fires over 30 ha, and not every one of them.
