Each dot is a patch of about 400 m where a satellite detected heat. The solid patch at the end is the burned area by Sentinel-2.

Wildfire

The model gives a 87% chance that this was a significant fire. Around the detections: 88% forest, shrubs and grass, 12% farmland.

Chance it was a significant fire: 87%

The estimate comes from a model trained on past fires in Bulgaria. It looks at a fire's first 24 hours: the land, the season and the detections.

First detected: 2 Aug 2021, 23:24
Last detected: 3 Aug 2021, 14:45
Duration: 15 h
Detections: 18
Max. power: 12 MW
Burned area: 487 ha; From Sentinel-2 images of 1 Aug and 16 Aug: the ground whose vegetation burned in between. An estimate, with error.
Extent: 238 ha; The area around the detections: a rough estimate, usually larger than what burned.

EFFIS has not mapped this fire. It maps mostly fires over 30 ha, and not every one of them.
